My story

**Note: Currently, Gooruem is in Korea, but will arrive in Toronto on Mar 15. Background Gooreum was rescued along with four other dogs from a heartbreaking situation last December. They had been abandoned inside a construction container and left there for over a month. When the owner moved away, the dogs were simply left behind. They said they would come back for them, but they never did. Eventually, a concerned neighbor contacted rescuers for help. The conditions inside the container were terrible. There was no clean water, the smell was overwhelming, and the dogs were living in severe neglect. Their fur was badly tangled and matted. Gooreum was found with a badly injured leg. She had been tied to a pole inside the container, and a strap had wrapped tightly around her leg, likely cutting off circulation and causing the tissue to die. It was a heartbreaking scene. Gooreum was rushed to a veterinary hospital where she had surgery to remove the damaged leg. She spent a long time recovering at the hospital before moving to a foster home where she could finally rest and heal. Personality and Socialization Gooreum is a bright and affectionate Poodle who truly loves people. Considering everything she went through, it is incredible that she still trusts humans so deeply. She is gentle, friendly, and happiest when she can stay close to her person. She often follows her favorite human from room to room like a little shadow. Soft cuddles, kind words, and loving attention make her very happy. She greets new people warmly and is comfortable meeting strangers. Gooreum also gets along well with other dogs, especially those who are gentle and around her size. She would be happy living with another calm and friendly dog, but she would also be perfectly content as the only dog in the home where she can receive all the love and attention. Behaviours Gooreum is a smart dog who learns quickly. She rides calmly in the car and behaves well during baths, grooming, and vet visits. Even after losing her vision, she has adapted very well. She uses indoor pee pads and will also go potty outside when she has access to a yard or outdoor area. Before her surgeries she walked nicely on a leash and liked staying close to her person. During her recovery period she stayed mostly indoors, especially since the weather in February was very cold. Once she settles into her new home and the weather is pleasant, she will likely enjoy gentle outdoor time again. Gooreum does not enjoy being alone for long periods, although she has learned to settle when needed. She feels safest when she can stay near her people and be part of everyday life. Health and Diet When Gooreum was first rescued, she had suffered very serious injuries and was in a great deal of pain. One of her back legs had been severely damaged and the bone was exposed. Both of her eyes had lost vision and were badly affected by advanced glaucoma. To help her live comfortably and without pain, Gooreum went through several major surgeries. First, her damaged back leg was removed. After she recovered and gained strength, she later had surgery to remove both eyes. She also had masses removed from her mammary area, and the tissue biopsy confirmed that they were not tumors but simply thickened skin tissue. Gooreum is now spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. She also receives monthly parasite prevention. This mighty little angel survived every challenge she faced and continues to greet life with a gentle and loving heart. She has recovered well and is now ready to find the forever home she truly deserves. Gooreum eats well twice a day and currently enjoys dry kibble. So far, she has shown no signs of allergies. Ideal Home Gooreum has recovered beautifully from all of her surgeries and is now healthy and comfortable. It is hard to imagine any person going through so many operations, yet this small and brave girl endured it all with quiet strength. She is a people loving Poodle who wants to be close to her family and share everyday life together. A calm and loving home would be ideal for her. Someone who works from home, is retired, or enjoys a quiet lifestyle would be a wonderful match. Gooreum does not ask for much. She simply wants to stay close to her family, live a peaceful life, and never be abandoned again. Despite everything she has been through, she remains joyful, trusting, and full of love. A family who will keep her close, love her deeply, and treasure every part of her will be the perfect home. This brave little angel deserves the best life. ------------------------------ For more info about the dog, or the adoption application, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/gooreum-2/
