My story

Eden / Female / 2 Years / 60 lbs / Border Collie-Black Lab Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / Unknown with Cats / From Mississauga According to her foster momma, Eden is a “perfectly polite angel.” Unless you’re her stuffie, then she’ll tear out your guts and eat it. But beyond this one curious quirk, Eden is the perfect dog and would be the perfect addition to almost any home. As a two-year-old border collie mix, Eden has energy to spare. She’s playful, affectionate, and expressive, but has just a splash of timidness that makes her easy to walk despite her size. She’s in her happy place when she’s in her bed chewing on her many toys, or when she’s out exploring the world. When it’s time for cuddles, she’ll gently place her head in your lap and look up with those big puppy-dog eyes. She’s shy with strangers, both dogs and people, but she’s always curious about newcomers, and she quickly warms up when given a positive response. She loves to play with other dogs she’s gotten to know, and the perfect home for her might include another furry friend to help her burn off some of that energy. Otherwise, dog-savvy children would be a good match for her playfulness. At 60 lbs, Eden is a little big to be cooped up in a tiny apartment. Unless you live near a decent-sized dog park, a home with a backyard is a better fit for Eden. Two good 30-minute walks are essential for Eden’s energy level. She takes walks with excited enthusiasm, but she doesn’t try to pull on her leash; instead, she focuses on the many smells of the outdoors. Eden knows all the basics of dog training, including sit, stay, lie down, and paw. She’s fully potty-trained and doesn’t seem to require a crate as she readily settles on her doggy bed when left alone. She doesn’t chew furniture, she doesn’t jump on counters, and she doesn’t go looking for trouble. While Eden may love her toys, she should only be given hard chew toys and not soft stuffed toys. This is due to her aforementioned quirk; if given the chance, she’ll tear a stuffy apart and eat whatever’s inside. Proper training may be able to break her of this bad habit, but the simplest solution is to just keep her away from soft toys. Eden has a condition called luxating patella, or in human terms, a dislocated kneecap. She seems to have adapted to her condition, and it doesn’t cause her pain or discomfort, but you may see her hop, limp, or hobble while walking sometimes. Just let her walk it off, and she’ll be back to being a perfect, polite angel. If you are interested in adopting one of the puppies, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form The adoption fee is $850. Adopters must pay the fee at time of approval to hold the puppy until they are ready to go home. To learn more about our adoption fees and process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Eden, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
