My story

 QUICK FACTS  Name: Iko Age: 10 months old Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Jack Russel Terrier mix Color: Black, White, Brown spots Weight: 7kg / 15.4lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed    MY RESCUE STORY  I was rescued from a crowded city pound after being placed on the euthanasia list simply because there wasn’t enough space. Those gloomy, uncertain days are now behind me, and I’m safe at last. Now I’m ready to turn the page and begin a bright new chapter with a forever family who will love and cherish me.    MY HEALTH  • All vaccinations up-to-date • Spayed & healthy with no known health issues    MY PERSONALITY  I’m actually pretty calm for a terrier mix! I’m a gentle, sweet, and slightly shy girl who likes to explore the world at my own pace. While I can be a little reserved at first, I warm up quickly — and I did so well during my profile photoshoot! I felt especially confident indoors and showed my softer side with ease. It truly doesn’t take me long to open up and share my affectionate, loving personality once I feel safe.    MY SOCIAL SKILLS  · With People: I love receiving affection and pets from people! I just need a little time at first to feel comfortable and warm up. It doesn’t take long though — especially if you have a few tasty treats! Once I feel safe with you, I’ll happily follow you around and even roll over to show my belly, asking for snuggles and love whenever I can. · With Dogs: I like to greet new dogs politely, but I don’t rush straight into play. I prefer to take a little time for myself first, explore my surroundings, and feel comfortable. Once I feel safe, I’m happy to engage and enjoy playtime with my dog friends. I do best with dogs who match my calm, balanced energy, as very high-energy pups can sometimes feel overwhelming for me. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY  I have a moderate energy level and enjoy a healthy balance of play and relaxation. I love running around and exploring outdoors, taking in all the sights and smells. After I’ve had my fun and fresh air, I’m perfectly content to come inside and snuggle up for some cozy downtime.    TRAINING & HABITS  I’m still learning my leash manners and getting better every day. I love people so much that sometimes I’ll stop every few steps just to roll over, show my belly, and ask to be picked up for snuggles! Being close to my humans is my favorite thing. I don’t guard my food from people, though I can be a little sensitive if other dogs are nearby during mealtime. I rarely bark and usually only do so if I’m hoping for some attention. I rest calmly in my kennel and am comfortable using both indoor pee pads and going potty outdoors.    MY IDEAL HOME  I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever • Understanding my love for food and willing to guide me with patience so I learn to be more patient when other dogs are nearby during meal times • A family willing to guide me with continued social obedience and training    SPECIAL NOTES  I absolutely love to eat and have a surprisingly huge appetite for such a small body! Food is definitely the way to my heart, which makes me easy to train and a joy to bond with. I’m still a young pup learning about the world, discovering new things every day, and growing more confident along the way.
