Hi. I’m Tuco -Energy Level: YESSSSS Okay first things first — I’m a young guy with a lot of enthusiasm for life. Like… a lot. Imagine someone gave a puppy a triple espresso and told him the world is his playground. That’s kind of all of me and my 29lbs at 1.5 years old. But hey, I’m learning. This whole “house dog with manners” thing is pretty new to me. Let’s Talk About Food (My Favorite Topic) I eat great. Honestly, I love food so much that my foster mom gives me a slow feeder so I don’t inhale it like a vacuum. I used to drink a lot of water really fast and sometimes throw a little back up, but that’s slowed down a lot now that I’ve realized water isn’t going to disappear. Turns out when you’ve had a little bit of chaos in life, you sometimes worry the good stuff might run out. Now that I know it’s always there, I’m doing much better. Potty Situation: Pretty Impressive If I Do Say So I had two accidents my first couple days in foster care while I was figuring things out, but once I realized how the system works, I caught on quick. If I have access outside, I take myself out like a responsible gentleman. I’ve also lived with a dog door and picked it up like a champ. So basically… if I can get outside, I’m pretty much potty trained. My Health My medical checkups have been great. I did have one strange moment where I was stumbling and seemed a little out of it, but my foster mom took me to the vet right away and they didn’t find anything concerning. After that, I went right back to being my normal goofy self like nothing happened. So overall, I’m healthy and feeling good. Dog Friends & My Social Life I do well with other dogs and really enjoy having friends around. I’m confident and playful, and I definitely like to interact with the other dogs in the home. Sometimes I can be a little… enthusiastic about it. I might pester them to play or test the waters a bit, but I hold my own and continue learning appropriate dog manners every day. My Energy Level (Spoiler: It’s High) I am a very energetic guy who loves toys, chew bones, and anything that involves fun. Walks are still something I’m learning, but I’m getting better and do really well using a waist lead. I’m curious about the world and excited to explore it. Basically, I’ve got a lot of puppy energy because nobody really taught me when to turn it off before I came to the rescue. Crate Training I’m still learning crate training. If you put me in there, I might protest a little… okay maybe I cry a bit. But if the crate is covered, I settle down much faster. The good news is I actually go into my crates on my own to nap sometimes, so I don’t think they’re bad places. I just haven’t fully figured out the rules yet. Things I’m Still Learning Because I didn’t have much structure before coming to the rescue, I’m still learning some important life skills. I’ve shown some resource guarding around food or treats when other dogs are nearby, which means I’ll need continued guidance and leadership while I learn that nobody is trying to take things from me. I’m also learning boundaries with other dogs and people. Think of me as a smart kid who never had a teacher before — I just need someone to show me how things work. My Sweet Side Now let’s talk about the best part of me, I am a snuggle monster. When I finally slow down, I want to climb right into your arms and melt. I love affection and being close to my people. My foster mom says I’m a silly eater, so she wipes my face after meals, which honestly feels pretty nice. I also know what “bed” means, and if you tell me to go there, I do! My Perfect Home What I really need is someone confident who can guide me and continue teaching me how to be the best version of myself. I have so much potential, and now that I’m finally getting structure, I’m learning fast. I’m not a bad dog — I’m just a young guy who was never given the tools before. Now I’m getting all these tools in my life toolbox and I’m understanding not bad for 3 weeks in rescue! And if you’re looking for a funny, loving, slightly dramatic, high-energy sidekick who will make you laugh every day… well… I’m your guy.
