My story

Meet Echo Echo’s story started with heartbreak—he was found as a puppy, lost and confused, lying in a gutter. A caring foster reached out for help, and we jumped into action to get him safe. He was adopted quickly, but a few months later he was returned when his family discovered he is deaf. Combined with his happy puppy energy, it was more than they felt prepared for. But here’s the beautiful part of Echo’s story… Echo has since graduated from our PAWs to Prison training program, where he’s been working hard and showing just how smart and capable he truly is. Here’s what his trainer says about him: A big, sweet, lovable goofball Full of enthusiasm and zest for life Best suited for a confident dog companion who can gently “check” his excitement Eager to learn and bond with his person Because Echo is deaf, he communicates through touch and visual cues. His marker is a gentle touch to your lips, and he’s learned: Sit Down Stay Come Shake Touch “Quiet” (stop barking and look at you) Go to / Get on He performs these behaviors with about 85% reliability with his trainer, and he continues improving every day. With consistency and mindful leash handling, Echo absolutely thrives. He’s not a “project” — he’s a dog who wants to connect, learn, and be someone’s boy. He just needs a family willing to embrace his unique way of experiencing the world. Echo is working hard to be the best boy… now he just needs someone willing to see how special he truly is.      March 11, 2026, 2:39 pm
