My story

Meet Guinness. He didn’t get the thoughtful start in life that every puppy deserves. He was the last puppy left from his litter, and his early transition to a new home was rushed, with no contract, no questions, and little consideration for what a young Standard Poodle truly needs to thrive. A well-intentioned family brought him home believing they had done their research, only to quickly realize that Guinness hadn’t been properly socialized. In their busy household with young children, Guinness became overwhelmed. He barked and growled, not out of aggression, but fear — and that fear understandably frightened the children as well. As if that weren’t enough, one family member also experienced allergic reactions. The family was heartbroken and reached out to SPIN for help. We said yes. When Guinness arrived in foster care, we met a sweet, gentle puppy who was simply unsure of the world. He had missed out on early exposures that help puppies build confidence, and it showed. With patience, routine, and kindness, his foster family has already begun helping him feel safer and more secure.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Guinness, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
