My story

Patches / Female / Approx 2 Years / 30 lbs / Mixed Terrier / Good with Dogs / Good with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Antigua / Fostered in Hamilton Patches is a sweet, gentle girl with an easygoing nature and a heart full of warmth. She came into care as an owner surrender after her previous family became overwhelmed, but despite this transition, Patches has remained social, affectionate, and quietly resilient. As she settles into life in Canada, her personality continues to blossom, and she’s showing just how loving and loyal she can be. Patches is wonderful with children and has been incredibly gentle and patient with the kids in her foster home. She enjoys being part of daily family life, whether that means relaxing nearby, soaking up affection, or joining in backyard playtime. She has a calm, friendly demeanour and rarely barks, making her a lovely presence in the home. She gets along well with other dogs and has shown polite, adaptable behaviour when meeting new canine friends, including during vet visits. Patches approaches new experiences thoughtfully and at her own pace, but once she feels comfortable, her playful side shines through with happy tail wags, adorable puppy-dog eyes, and a love of ear rubs. Patches enjoys going for walks and continues to improve on leash with gentle guidance. She has a medium energy level. Is happy to enjoy regular outings, backyard play, and then settle in for some well-earned rest. She also loves squeaky toys, chewing safely, watching squirrels, and cozy naps. While her house training is still a work in progress, she is adjusting well and responds positively to routine and consistency. She settles quickly in a crate when needed and sleeps peacefully through the night. Patches would thrive in a home looking for a sweet, social companion who fits naturally into family life. A calm, supportive environment where she can continue building confidence and enjoying companionship would suit her beautifully. If you’re searching for a loving dog who is gentle with kids, friendly with other dogs, and happy to go with the flow, Patches could be a wonderful addition to your family. Patches has some small cloudy spots on the surface of his eyes (the cornea). His left eye has two tiny spots, while his right eye has a larger cloudy area covering most of the center. These changes are not painful, do not require treatment, and are commonly age-related or due to harmless deposits. Patches is comfortable and shows no signs of irritation or vision problems. If any signs such as squinting, discharge, redness, or vision changes are ever observed, a vet visit is recommended. If you’re interested in adopting Patches, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Patches’ adoption fee is $850.
