My story

*Adoption Fee Fully Sponsored. "In Memory of Opal." Louise, the other half of our infamous duo, is a beautiful and well-adjusted bully breed mix. Her broad head has the perfect dip in the middle that beckons you to give her smooches on it. Her dark, emotive eyes beg for attention and affection. Even though she's about 60 lbs, she is an expert at curling up tight and tiny in order to make room to cuddle you on the couch. Louse is a dreamy, loving, gorgeous girl who deserves a new forever home. First spotted running as a stray with her companion (now named Thelma), numerous posts were made on local lost and found pet pages trying to find the owners of these two dogs who were clearly friendly, well-fed, and affectionate. When the giant storm descended, social media attention on them rose to a frenzy as they followed the mailman for blocks and tried to get into people's houses to take shelter from the storm. In a combined community effort, they were taken in by a kind stranger, picked up, taken to the shelter where they recieved their vaccinations, and then sent straight to foster care until we were able to open up a kennel spot for them. Now back at the shelter, freshly spayed, and beginning to settle into the swing of things, here is what we have gotten to know about Louise. Per her foster, she is completely housebroken and seems to have been the recipient of some obedience training at some point in her life. She is familiar with the sit command as well as knowing what the leash means - she sits before it is put on her but has a happy tippy tap dance to accompany her wait. Louise was an exemplary houseguest and even shared her bowl with Thelma. When she had a difficult time recovering post-spay, a staff member took her home where we learned a little more about her. Louise is friendly towards children as long as they respect her personal space. For this reason, she will do best around dog-savvy children that are mindful of space, usually around 5+. Cats are not her friend, but she is neutral towards calm dogs and plays fantastically with Thelma still. When she spends time as office dog, Louise is the perfect and glowing example of your classic "Couch Potato." She knows exactly how to utilize a couch to its best capacity, sprawling out on it while she gently snoozes and snores. If you sit on the couch first and coax her up with you, she's able to manipulate her form as a cat does, weaving in and out of your limbs in liquid fashion to best optimize cuddle opportunities. She enjoys a good chew on a bone, loves her treats, and shows mild interest in stuffed toys. If you get down on the floor with her, a different and goofy Louise emerges. She is delighted when you are on the same level as her, and she will roll around on the floor, show off her pink tummy, slap her paws around, and root her cute black nose into your lap. Louise is a wonderful, sensitive, silly, sweet, food-motivated, and secretly playful girl. She's the ideal combo of chill inside and more playful outside. Already housebroken, displaying decent leash skills, and friendly towards humans, it's clear that at one point in her life, she did have a home to call her own. We can't fill in the gaps missing in her history, but we can provide her the next best chance at a forever home. Please consider adding Louise to your family. This lovely girl will be forever grateful and the best of companions if given the chance.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Louise, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
