My story

*Fostered in the Niagara region*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Meet Queso! Once a stray, he now enjoys all the comforts of being an adored pup in his foster home. He likes to be close to people, would be great as a travel dog or ride along friend. Queso would enjoy a dog friend to be cuddle and play friends with, but its not required. He would do well with a family or single person - with or without children who are over 8 and respectful/understanding of a nervous small dog who can 'get under your feet'.Queso is very food motivated and will go so far as to drink your morning coffee if you leave it unattended. He doesn't seek out affection but is working hard to trust people and learn 'how to dog' from his furry foster friends. He has learned a lot in his foster home and we believe he will successfully adjust in almost any environment with a little patience... and lots of blankets!Name: QuesoBreed: Mixed Breed - Rat Terrier Mix Age: ~3 yearWeight: ~14lbSex: Male, neutered Colour: Tri-colourMedical: Antibiotics for infected neuter incision Good with men: Yes, friendly Good with women: Yes, friendlyGood with kids 0-6: Unknown, not tested - suggest 8+ Good with kids 7-15: Yes, has lived with children and does wellWhen the dog meets new people heApproaches happily, Wants affectionGood with dogs: YesHow does this dog react to meeting new dogs? Enjoys cuddling with our medium size dog and looks for a parent/big brother figure in other dogs. Nervous at first but warms up and goes with the flow. Playing with the pack on day 8ish.Good with Cats: Unknown, not testedCrate training: Enters crate willingly, Settles quickly and quietlyHouse trained: Yes Resource Guarding: Food/high value treats - from dogsWalks on a leash: Nervous and needs coaxingEnergy level: Medium Areas to work on: Touch sensitivity - Can be nervous and shake when scared or you move quickly or reach for him. Does not like to be cornered. Can be picked up once he knows you.Any noted separation anxiety? No. Sometimes whines at the baby gate or door when his person or dog friend leaves the room.Barker: Average - will bark when someone comes to the door, while playing, etc.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Queso, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
