My story

Jenny deserves a voice, so we are going to speak for her. A number of people have come to meet Jenny and have decided she was not the right fit. And we understand but we have tried to be very clear that she is extremely fearful. Jenny is not the dog who will run up to you. She will not instantly shower you with kisses. Meet-and-greets are overwhelming for her, and they simply do not show who she truly is. If only she could talk and tell us what she has been through and how to help her feel safe. What we do know is this: She does not need perfection. She does not need pressure. She just needs time. Dogs like Jenny do not bloom in 30 minutes. They bloom in quiet homes. In soft voices. In patience. In consistency. Jenny can live with other dogs and cats, in fact, calm animal companions can really help her feel more secure. A rural or very quiet home would be best for her, where the world is not so loud and overwhelming. She also will not be ready to walk on leash for some time, so a secure backyard is necessary. She needs the safety of her own space while she builds confidence. Walks can come later, right now, feeling safe is what matters most. For Jenny, a meet and greet wont tell the story. Only a 6-week trial will give her the real chance she deserves, the space to decompress, to trust, to slowly show her heart. We truly need people to fully understand all of this before applying. Jenny is not an immediate companion she is a long-term commitment to patience, compassion, and gentle progress. Please don’t expect her to run to you. Expect her to try. Expect small wins. Expect the most beautiful transformation if you’re willing to wait. She is worth it. She is not broken. She just needs someone brave enough to give her a chance. If you believe in the quiet ones. Jenny is waiting. She is being fostered in the Rice Lake area. If you would like more info please message us or fill out an adoption application All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety. NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed. BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jenny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
