My story

Hi. I’m Kula _ The Purest of Sunshine. I’m 4 years old, I weigh about 32 pounds, and yes — I know — I’m a big girl. But I’m a HAPPY big girl, and honestly? That’s my entire personality. If happiness were a sport, I’d be the fucking cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys — full volume, full commitment, zero shame. I don’t walk into a room. I burst into it! My Vibe I love every single dog I meet. Big dogs. Little dogs. Dogs with weird energy. Dogs with no energy. I love them all. I don’t have an aggressive bone in my body, I don’t resource guard, and if another dog comes at me sideways, I just… go the other way. Why ruin a good day? My happiness is explosive. It leaks out of my eyes. It’s constant. I’m the sunshine that never turns to night — the kind that wakes everyone up and says, “HEY! LIFE IS HAPPENING!” I play hard — bulldog-style, and take super long naps! Well Mo works me a bit to (you know the weight thing) It can look intense if you don’t know me, but it’s not aggression. It’s joy. It’s full-body excitement. I need a home that understands that big energy isn’t bad energy — it’s just me being me. A Little About My Past I was found as a stray in a field (it’s always a field) and pulled from a Southern California shelter, so my backstory is a bit of a mystery. Sometimes when you go to pet me, I might crouch for a second — like I’m not totally sure what’s coming — so maybe my past wasn’t always kind. But here’s the thing: I didn’t let that steal my joy. My Daily Life I’m potty trained and I take treats very gently (don’t let the chaos fool you — I have manners). I love food, but when I first came into rescue it took me a minute to adjust to a schedule. Now? I’m dialed in. I do okay in the car and I’m getting better with consistency — it’s something I’ll grow into with time and routine. I also love going for walks, but I’m a bulldog, so I like to take breaks in between. Let me catch my breath, admire the scenery, soak up compliments… then we keep going. Health & Care I had kennel cough when I first arrived, but I healed up beautifully. The vet says I’m super healthy overall. I have some mild skin stuff that’s easily managed with baths, and my ears needed some TLC when I got here — but with antibiotics and regular cleaning, they’re doing great. Also… I LOVE when you clean my face and wrinkles. When you’re done, I parade around like I just left a spa. Confidence matters. Oh — and about my weight: I’ve already lost about 5 pounds in rescue, and I could safely lose a couple more. My future family will need to keep an eye on that so I can stay feeling my best and keep up with my cheerleader lifestyle. What I’m Looking For I need a home with big energy, big love, and big joy. A family that laughs at zoomies, understands bulldog play, and wants a dog who wakes up every day ready to celebrate life like it’s game day. I am the sunshine that hits your face in the morning and refuses to leave. I am joy with four legs. I am Kula — and I’m ready to bring the hype to my forever home. You don’t need a rose quartz crystal to carry around when you have me in your life!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kula, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
