PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS BIO THOROUGHLY AS INFORMATION ON HOW TO APPLY IS CONTAINED IN THIS LISTING** For Adoption: Kibble! Please read our dog bios carefully to be sure that the dog you are applying for suits your family and lifestyle. We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. To apply for adoption and for more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Meet Kibble! This Yorkshire Terrier is full of love and looking for his forever home. He is estimated to be 9 years old, and weights 10 pounds. Kibble came from a shelter in Quebec where he had been brought in as a stray. After remaining unclaimed in the shelter, he was at risk of being euthanized. Pound Dog Rescue was able to take him in to give him a second chance. It’s hard to believe no one came to claim this little guy. He obviously lived in a home at some point as he immediately showed an understanding of basic house training and knew to go to the bathroom outside. However, as a male dog, he will occasionally attempt to “mark his territory” when he is initially introduced to a new environment. It’s important to keep a close eye on him when he first comes into his new home to avoid any messes. He is well adjusted and hasn’t shown any signs of serious behavioural concerns. He loves attention and lot of affection. The more pats, snuggles and belly rubs the better. He is always happy to return the favour with some doggy kisses. Kibble was checked by our vet and was given a clean bill of health. He has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on all his vaccines. His teeth are in good condition, especially considering his age. The vet said he may need a cleaning in a year or two, but his teeth are fine for the time being. Dentals with a senior small dog are to be expected and anyone interested in him needs to be prepared for the eventuality of a dental or 2 in his lifetime. Although Kibble generally gets along with other dogs, and lives with two other small dogs in his foster home, he would do best in an adult only home where he is the only pet. Kibble can become easily jealous when other animals are getting attention. As a result, he would much rather be the only dog. But he would be happy to have an occasional visit with a friendly dog friend from time-to-time. Either an apartment or house would be suitable for Kibble. He walks well on a leash and enjoys going for short walks around the neighbourhood. He is progressing well with his crate training but still prefers to be near his family whenever possible. So, Kibble’s preference would be to live with someone who is retired or works from home the majority of the time to keep him company. Kibble is non-shedding, so his new family should be prepared for regular brushing and periotic professional grooming appointments to keep his coat neat and tidy. He is very smart and picks up on training and routines quickly. He will thrive with some mandatory basic training to help him learn and expand his knowledge of basic commands. Overall, Kibble is a charismatic little dog looking for his forever where he can give and receive lots of love.
