My story

“Howdy, Partner… I’m Texas Ranger, and I’m Ridin’ Toward My Forever Home.” From the desk (well… the dog bed) of Texas Ranger himself Well hey there, friend. Name’s Texas Ranger, but you can call me Texas or Ranger—either one suits me just fine. I’m a 65&#226&#128&#145pound fella with the look of an Anatolian Shepherd mixed with a German Shepherd, but without all that giant&#226&#128&#145sized bulk the true Anatolians carry around. I like to think I’m the “fun&#226&#128&#145sized” version—big enough to look impressive, small enough to fit on your couch if you’re not lookin’. I reckon I oughta start at the beginning. I was found wanderin’ the streets of Yuma, Arizona, just a lone cowboy lookin’ for a place to rest my paws. Life on the range can get rough, and somewhere along the way I got separated from whoever used to care for me. Lucky for me, the folks at Central Arizona Animal Rescue scooped me up, dusted me off, and gave me a safe place to land while I search for my next big adventure—my forever home. Now I’m bunkin’ here at the rescue, sharin’ a kennel with a sweet lady dog who’s also a shepherd mix. We get along like two tumbleweeds in the same breeze—easy, natural, and without a fuss. I’m a social guy, but not pushy. I respect boundaries, read the room, and try to be the kind of dog other dogs don’t mind havin’ around. When it comes to playtime, well… let’s just say I’ve got a sense of humor. Give me a toy and I’ll have myself a grand ol’ time. But if toys are in short supply, I improvise. My favorite trick? Turnin’ my food bowl into a hockey puck and scootin’ it around like I’m tryin’ out for the Arizona Coyotes. The humans laugh, and I wag my tail like I meant to be funny all along. I’m neutered, microchipped, and current on all my vaccinations, so I’m ready to ride off into the sunset with you without any loose ends. No more gettin’ lost for this cowboy—I’ve got a chip that’ll always point me back home. Now, I may have the look of a guardian breed, but at heart I’m just a loyal companion lookin’ for a human to call my own. I’m not too big, not too small, and I’ve got just the right amount of energy. I love bein’ outside, stretchin’ my legs, sniffin’ the breeze, and takin’ in the world like a true ranger on patrol. But I also know how to settle down, relax, and enjoy the quiet moments. I’m the kind of dog who’ll watch the sunset with you, trot beside you on a walk, or curl up nearby while you unwind after a long day. What I’m really hopin’ for is someone who’ll see past the dust on my boots and notice the good heart beatin’ underneath. Someone who wants a partner—steady, loyal, and ready for whatever trail life leads down next. If you think you might be that person, well… I’d sure like to meet you. The folks here say all you gotta do is send an email to mike@caaronline.org to set up a time to come say howdy. I’ll be waitin’, tail waggin’, ears perked, ready to show you just what kind of dog I am. Until then, partner… This is Texas Ranger, signin’ off and lookin’ toward the horizon. Maybe that horizon leads straight to you.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
