Klaus is coming to town!Fittingly, Klaus arrived at EHS from a municipal animal shelter during the Christmas season. Similar to his namesake, Santa, Klaus is described as having a big, bold personality and is ready to settle down in a place to call home.ABOUT KLAUS- In foster- Having once lived as a stray on the streets, Klaus is cautious when it comes to new people and environments. A big fan of the slow approach, he appreciates those who take the time to get to know him through gentle communication and soft blinks. - Klaus takes quite a bit of time to acclimate to new people and environments. He might spend his days hiding in a dark or enclosed space, but don’t be surprised to learn he has been wandering the house at night: exploring, playing with toys, and enjoying the dark. Much like his namesake, he prefers working the night shift!- He is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans, so it will take time, patience, and plenty of effort to earn his trust. If he feels unsafe, he will hiss and swat.- After a while, Klaus may open himself up to licking a bit Churu tube treat off the tip of a back-scratcher; he loves a good treat but won’t let you close right away. - Some skittish cats may remain reserved, while others may express their trust and affection in a variety of ways. - This sensitive fellow doesn’t appreciate loud noises, such as the vacuum, so he’ll likely make himself scarce when it’s time for chores!- Klaus has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- A cat with FIV may be overlooked, but with routine vet care and a loving home, cats who have FIV can live a long, healthy life. - Klaus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.KLAUS’ IDEAL HOME- Klaus prefers to be the only cat in the household.- Klaus does not require medication but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family. - A skittish cat, like Klaus, will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Klaus settl
