We just welcomed a lovely little Yorkie to our rescue. Bree is approximately 5 years old and weighs 6.5 lbs. She has spent her life in a puppy mill. A little nervous, but all things considered, Bree is doing very well. She is very curious and learns quickly. Bree has been spayed and has had a dental losing only 3 teeth. She’s a great eater and will eat kibble, wet food and sometimes we add a little chopped chicken or rice. Bree gets along well with other dogs she meets, large and small. We’ve caught her playing with toys the odd time when no one is looking. She is very friendly and affectionate. Bree arrived in a crate and car rides don’t seem to be a problem. She loves running around the backyard and exploring. At night she sleeps on her foster parent’s bed. Bree uses puppy pads. There has been the odd accident, but that is to be expected while she is adjusting to new surroundings. Coming from a puppy mill, Bree has a few challenges. She will need to learn how to do stairs and walk on a leash. Sometimes she will bark when there is something new that scares her. In time she will feel more comfortable. There has been no destruction when Bree is left alone, but she will cry and bark. Bree is a great little girl. A house would probably be best with a back yard. And she is would benefit from another dog in the home. Hopefully she will find a home with a retiree or someone who works from home and could be with her more often than not.
