My story

Gavin spent over 300 days in a shelter before UAF gave him a second chance — and he’s been thriving ever since! He is such a wonderful dog, we can't imagine why he was at the shelter for that long. Gavin is fantastic with other dogs and is often used by his trainer to help assess compatibility because he’s so neutral and well-balanced. Gavin reads social cues beautifully: if a dog doesn’t want to play, he disengages; if they do, he’s happy to join. He walks nicely on his own and enjoys exploring new scents. With a dog buddy, he gets excited and just needs a little help staying focused. Gavin loves the outdoors — especially hiking — and would happily swim out to investigate geese or ducks if allowed. An active home would suit him well. He’s adjusting nicely to home life: uses a dog door, waits politely for meals, doesn’t rush doorways, and sleeps quietly in his crate all night. He’s fascinated by TV and aromas of the kitchen. He's uncertain about "city traffic," but with continued confidence-building exercises and slow exposures, he will easily overcome them. Gavin is truly a good boy with a kind heart and great social skills, ready for a home that will include him in life’s adventures. *********************** Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard.
