You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.MINCE PIE hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find his forever family. He’s had his first two sets of vaccines, Revolution flea and tick treatment x 2 and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. He was found wandering around in the community all alone so we have no information on either parent and although he looks like a Husky/Shepherd we don’t really know what breeds are in him. That also means we don’t have much idea of what he’ll end up looking like or the size he’ll grow to be. This young fella is such a good boy and loves to play chase with his rubber ball, chew on his Nyla bone and play with the other dogs in his foster home. He’s very loving and good natured and very playful at the same time. He also loves to chase ice cubes across the floor and then scrunch on them as they’re really good for his gums while he’s teething.  MINCE PIE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night without a peep and the same can be said for during the day. He’s doing really well with his house training and will cry when he needs to go outside. He loves to go on walks and he goes regularly as he has lots of puppy energy to burn off. He‘s fostered with several dogs so he’s well socialized with them and would suit being with another dog in the home. He’s fostered with a cat and several kittens and the funny thing is, rather than chase them he just sits quietly and watches them interact with each other. He should do well with a cat in the home as long as it’s a dog savvy one and as always we recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them while the dog is kept leashed. We do require children to be aged 6 years of age and up plus they should be kind, gentle and loving towards animals.  MINCE PIE’s ideal family would be an active one with a love and understanding of Huskies and all that comes with the breed. They should have a love of the outdoors and being outside for big walks and hikes in the woods. He does really well in a vehicle and is kept in a crate in it as he goes to Tim’s with his foster dad every morning. He gets very excited when he knows he’s going in the vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him or even a Tim’s stop. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided be’s not left alone for long periods of time and isn’t crated in day for extended periods of time either. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe and also have somewhere to run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to attend puppy/obedience training to help him be the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet if preferred and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a photo of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement.
