My story

Meet Degallo: Your New Best Friend in the Making Hi there! My name is Degallo, and if you’re reading this, I’m already wagging my tail. I’m a three&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old pug mix—probably part Shar&#226&#128&#145Pei, which I hear makes me a fancy designer dog. I don’t know much about designer things, but I do know I’m one&#226&#128&#145of&#226&#128&#145a&#226&#128&#145kind. My tongue sticks out all the time, which everyone says makes me look adorable. I think it just makes me… me. My story hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve never stopped hoping. I was picked up as a stray in Yuma with another pug mix named Pico. We think he’s my brother. We stuck together, confused and scared, waiting at the pound for someone to come get us. But nobody ever did. I waited for a couple of weeks, watching people walk by, wondering if my family would show up. They didn’t—but something better did. Central Arizona Animal Rescue came for me, and now I’m safe, loved, and ready for my next chapter. Life here is good, but I dream of a home of my own. A place where I can curl up next to someone who thinks a dog with a permanently silly tongue is perfect. A Little About Me I’m great with other dogs—friendly, polite, and happy to share space. I’ve been around children and did just fine with them. Nobody knows if I’m house&#226&#128&#145trained, but I’m smart and eager to learn. I’m neutered, microchipped, and current on all my vaccinations. I’m all set for a fresh start and won’t ever get lost again. What to Know About Pugs & Pug Mixes Since I’m part pug, I come with some special charm—and a few special needs. Pugs and pug mixes often have adorable smooshy faces, which can mean we need a little extra care with breathing and staying cool. We’re known for being affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. We love being close to our people and thrive on companionship. Because of our facial structure, we shouldn’t overheat, and we do best in homes where someone can keep an eye on us during hot weather or heavy activity. If I really am part Shar&#226&#128&#145Pei too, that means I’ve got a dash of independence and a sprinkle of wrinkle&#226&#128&#145faced cuteness. Shar&#226&#128&#145Pei mixes can be calm, thoughtful dogs who bond deeply with their families. Put that together with pug sweetness, and you get… well, me. What I’m Hoping For I don’t know how I feel about cats yet, but I’m open&#226&#128&#145minded. Mostly, I just want someone who sees me for who I am: a gentle, hopeful dog who’s been waiting a long time for a place to belong. I’m not demanding. A soft bed, a kind voice, a few treats, and someone who doesn’t mind my silly tongue—that’s all I need. I’ve already had a journey, but I believe the best part is still ahead. Maybe it’s with you. If you’d like to meet me, please e&#226&#128&#145mail mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, tail wagging, waiting for the person who reads this and thinks, “That’s my dog.” PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
