My story

DOB: August 26, 2024 Mamma Mia (Mia) is a slender, sweet young cat who recently raised her final litter of six kittens and is now ready to enjoy life fully as a cherished companion. She is naturally skittish and can startle easily, often running for cover when she hears footsteps or becoming tense when hands approach her from the front. Even so, she has been making steady, heartwarming progress as she learns to trust. Mia is highly food-motivated and guided by strong scavenger instincts. She’s extremely expressive when it comes to food — meowing when she’s hungry, meowing during meal prep, and offering soft, persistent requests for treats or table scraps. She’s never aggressive; she’s simply hopeful and determined. With her sharp memory, Mia knows exactly where the treats are stored and appears instantly if she thinks someone might be heading toward that drawer. If she isn’t acknowledged right away, she’ll gently vocalize, move a little closer, and offer a friendly rub to make her wishes known. Her emotional progress has been remarkable. What began as cautious acceptance of gentle touch has grown into genuine affection. She now leans in for cheek scratches, soft ear rubs, haunch rubs, bum scritches, and head pets. When Mia wants attention, she settles nearby and looks up expectantly, melting into her person’s hand with surprising confidence for a once-skittish girl. She has become much more at ease lounging in the same space, relaxed and content. Mia will still scavenge if given the chance, investigating compost bins, checking unattended plates, and hoping for a shared morsel at the table. She’s persistent and clever, yet always gentle in her curiosity. Under her once-cautious exterior is a smart, expressive, affectionate cat who is discovering that humans can be safe and consistent. With patience and a predictable routine, Mamma Mia will continue to blossom into a trusting, deeply loving companion.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
