My story

My foster writes: Not getting enough affection in your life? Jake to the rescue! Always ready for chin scritches, pets, or some good old-fashioned lap time, Jake is the definition of a lover boy. Ever the gentleman, Jake is mindful of your personal space but happy to greet you with cuddles when you awake. Then it's on to bird-watching at the window or maybe some gentle splashing in his water dish. Quiet and pretty lazy, Jake's just looking for a home (and a lap) to call his own. This is a 10/10 cat.Jake is a silver-haired charmer who loves cuddles and play time in equal doses. While cautious to begin with, once he's settled in, you'll find him waking you up with gentle nips and head butts. He also throws a welcome party when you come home, flopping onto his side and inviting you to rub his belly! He's learning not to scratch rugs and furniture, but is also very food motivated so he'll learn in no time. Jake is a wonderful companion! What my friends at ACC say about me:Jake tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: Jake had a job once. An important job that meant a whole lot to him. So much in fact that when his workplace closed down, he waited outside for two whole weeks in case someone remembered his impeccable work ethic and thought to offer him another chance. Abandoned when the store shut down, Jake has since learned about forever families and has decided it's the path that's meant for him. Greeting me at the front because he's a professional first, Jake stretched out to nuzzle into my hand and happily stayed for some pets and neck scritches. He's working hard to adjust and even though we don't know much about his life before, we can assume that shelter life is considerably different. There's a lot going on and Jake is trying to manage it all. He loves treats and teamwork, and hopes you'll give him a chance to join your team soon. Primary Color: Gray Tabby Weight: 9.0625 Age: 5yrs 5mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jake, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
