My story

Hi, I'm Bella—and I'm Ready to Love Again Hi there. My name is Bella, and I’m looking for something really special: a forever home. Not just a place to sleep, but a place where I can finally feel safe, loved, and wanted. I’m only 2 years old, an Australian Shepherd mix with a heart full of hope and a tail that’s learning to wag again. I didn’t always know what kindness felt like. Not long ago, I was moments away from being left at a crowded pound. I overheard the word “euthanasia,” and even though I didn’t understand everything, I knew something was very wrong. I was scared—so scared. But then, like a miracle, someone stepped in and said, “Wait. Let me help.” That person saved my life and brought me to Central Arizona Animal Rescue. When I first arrived, I was terrified. I didn’t know if I could trust anyone. I didn’t know if I was safe. I was underweight, my fur was matted, and my spirit was shaken. But the kind humans here gave me time. They didn’t rush me. They let me heal. And slowly, I began to believe again. It took me three whole weeks to relax enough to show my real self. Now? I’m playful, curious, and learning every day. I share my kennel with a sweet boy dog, and we get along great. I’m not sure how I feel about cats yet—I haven’t met any—but I’m open to learning. I do have a habit of jumping up when I get excited (I just want to be close to you!), but I’m working on it. I listen when I’m corrected, and I’m trying so hard to be my best self. I might be a little too bouncy for tiny humans, but older kids and grown-ups? I’d love to be your shadow. I’ve been spayed, and I’ll be up-to-date on all my vaccinations before I go home. I want to be healthy and ready for all the adventures we’ll have together—walks, cuddles, maybe even hikes if you’re into that. I’m still gaining weight and confidence, but I promise you this: I have so much love to give. I don’t know what my past held, but I know what I want for my future. I want a family who sees me not as a project, but as a partner. Someone who understands that I’ve been through a lot, but I’m still standing. Still hoping. Still wagging. If you think you might be the one I’ve been waiting for, please reach out. You can email my friends at the rescue atmike@caaronline.org to set up a time to meet me. I’ll be here, dreaming of the day I get to go home—for good. With love and hope, Bella   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
