My story

Freddie / Male / Approx. 12 weeks / 6lbs and Growing / Mixed Breed/ Untested with Dogs / Untested with Kids / Untested with Cats / From Manitoba / Fostered in Toronto Follow Freddie's journey on Instagram: @furrealfreddie Freddie is a young puppy from Manitoba who has already proven himself to be resilient and eager to learn. When he was first rescued, he was very young and recovering from coccidia and puppy lice. Now fully healthy, he’s grown into a playful, curious, and affectionate little guy ready for his forever home. Freddie’s foster describes him as smart, explorative, and very food motivated. He loves to play tug-of-war, chase balls (though he hasn’t quite mastered bringing them back yet!), and rip apart stuffed toys. He’s also cuddly, often curling up next to his people on the couch after playtime. One of his cutest quirks? He’s not afraid of loud sounds and actually seems to enjoy the vacuum! With his trusted humans, Freddie is gentle, affectionate, and playful. He’s comfortable being touched, picked up, and kissed, and he greets new people confidently, even in larger groups. He hasn’t met children yet, but based on his personality, he would likely do well with respectful, dog-savvy kids who can match his energy and understand puppy manners. His ideal family is one ready for the joys and challenges of raising a high-energy puppy. Freddie would thrive in a house or townhouse with space to run, but he’s adaptable and could also succeed in an apartment or condo, especially in a home that provides plenty of play, stimulation, and training. Freddie hasn’t met dogs outdoors yet due to his age and vaccinations, but he seems comfortable around dog noises and is expected to do well with slow introductions to a balanced dog. Cats are unknown, but given his energy careful introductions would be needed. His energy level is high for a puppy. He plays hard in bursts (about two hours of play daily) and then rests soundly, sleeping through the night from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. He gets most of his exercise indoors for now and thrives on enrichment games and training sessions. Freddie is making great progress with training. He’s a “sit expert,” is learning recall and “stay,” and has already started impulse control around food. He’s very food motivated, though a bit impatient, he may bark or get vocal when meals are being prepared. Hand feeding during training has been helping him slow down. Potty training is going well: he now uses pee pads consistently and has begun signaling on his own. Crate training is in progress, he’ll go in on command and is increasingly comfortable with the door closed. When left alone for short periods, Freddie settles well and may quietly nap or play with toys. He is not destructive beyond typical puppy chewing (which is easily managed with toys). He sleeps in his playpen overnight and through the morning without fuss. Freddie is a lively, affectionate, and smart pup who will thrive with a family committed to positive training, structure, and plenty of play. He’s still learning, but he’s off to a fantastic start—and he’ll reward his adopters with loyalty, fun, and endless puppy love. As a condition of the adoption contract, Freddie’s new family will be required to: - Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit - Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required). - Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage. - Spay/neuter within 6 mos of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Freddie please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Freddie’s adoption fee is $1,000.
