My story

Bert is a four-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua mix who is discovering the good life for the very first time. He came to us with his brother, Ernie, after living outdoors his whole life without walks, vet visits, or the comforts most dogs enjoy. Despite this rough start, Bert’s sweet and gentle nature shines through. While timid at first, once he feels safe, he blossoms into a loving and affectionate companion. Bert is learning new things every day. He has taken well to leash walking, though he’s still building his confidence, and he absolutely adores the simple joy of having a cozy bed to call his own. He hasn’t yet discovered the fun of toys, but he does enjoy soft treats. Because food has been scarce in his past, Bert can be protective of his meals. If adopted with Ernie, the brothers will need to be fed separately, but both could also be adopted individually. Bert is ready for an enriching home that will nurture his spirit and help him flourish. Bert’s adoption fee of $250 covers essential services such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
