Amtrack is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! Spayed: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized More about Amtrack: Housebroken: Yes! Crate trained: She has done well with free roam when home alone, for up to 6 hours so far Leash walking: Doing well overall, but she is still working on her confidence with Chicago city hubbub! Dog social: She has seemed fearful of other dogs she encounters on walks, and has not yet had close interaction while in our care Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown Amtrack likes: - Cuddling with her person - Learning new things - Being told she is a good girl (and she is!) Amtrack is a quiet, sensitive dog learning to feel safe and loved. She’s come a long way in foster care—now allowing her harness to be put on and showing more curiosity each day. While still cautious and easily spooked by fast movements or unexpected touches, she is gentle, intelligent, and incredibly sweet once she feels secure. Amtrack is potty-trained, non-destructive, and content to snooze on the couch all day. She does well with free roam and is picking up on routines quickly. She’s nervous around other dogs and needs space and time to be able to warm up to a new dog pal at her own pace. With people, she may be shy at first but will often accept treats and slowly warm up. Amtrack will thrive in a quiet, patient home with someone who understands fearful dogs and can give her the time she needs to settle in. With consistency and care, she’ll make a devoted and mellow companion. Amtrack is heartworm positive and on activity restriction. She is undergoing treatment at Ellis Clinic at no charge to their adopter. Heartworm is a treatable disease that most dogs make a full recovery from. You can learn more about heartworm treatment on our resource page -https://www.onetail.org/heartworm/ Amtrack's adoption fee is $300, and she is ready to give her love to her person! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Amtrack, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
