Bertha – ID 13707 Hound mix, white and brown, female, 8 years old, 87.5 lb Arrived September 16 Up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative Cannot be spayed at the shelter due to age Bertha isn’t just another dog at the shelter—she’s already a volunteer favorite. The moment she arrived, her gentle spirit touched everyone around her. One volunteer was so moved by her sweetness that they gave her the name Bertha, a name as kind and strong as she is. This lovely girl has likely known a hard life. Her body shows the signs of having had many puppies, and it’s possible she never had the simple comforts most dogs take for granted. Watching her curl up in her bed—maybe her first real bed ever—will melt your heart. She sinks into it with such quiet gratitude, as if she can finally rest. Bertha is calm, loving, and endlessly gentle. She doesn’t ask for much—just a soft place to lay her head and a family who will cherish her in the years she has left. She’s content to simply be near her people, soaking up affection and returning it tenfold with her steady companionship. Bertha has given so much of herself throughout her life. Now, she deserves to be someone’s cherished companion, to be spoiled with love, comfort, and care. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.
