DOB: 5 years old Please note, this is a posting through the Courtesy Adoption Program. Please contact the current owner directly for more details. Their details are below. Ridley is quite vocal and likes to chirp or complain or call his people in the house. One favourite game is to chase plastic cork screws or small foil balls around, especially if we throw them up the stairs while in the kitchen and then he bats them out of the air and back down the stairs so that we can throw them again. He loves chasing laser pointers as well. He has done some clicker training and is smart – he's also willful and will make it clear what he wants or doesn't want. Ridley is a very curious, active and playful cat. He always wants to know what people are doing and be around them. In the morning, Ridley loves a lot of attention and game playing, and in the afternoon he tends to be very sleepy. We've been somewhat successful at getting him out in the backyard on a harness, but he doesn't like the process of putting the harness on, so it's been tricky. Ridley would thrive in a house with no other pets, as he has been in daily conflict with our other cat for dominance. We also think that children would not be a great idea as he doesn't like loud noises and has actually felt threatened by shouting from our autistic daughter. We are actually having to rehome Ridley because of a couple of times that he has attacked us by scratching and biting, so he has some behavioural issues. Two of the times he was startled by shouting, and one time by trying to take him inside and taking his harness off because he didn't want to go inside. He is also not great with nail trimming, but he doesn't scratch very much. So he can be triggered, and for that reason we feel he needs a quiet household with somebody who understands cat behavior. He's very healthy and up-to-date on all vaccinations, and he is neutered. He gets a watery eye sometimes, and the vet has said that it's nothing to worry about. Ridley is a dear little cat who we are so attached to, but since he has been unpredictable with the shouting that happens with my autistic daughter from time to time, and recently attacked her and us, we feel that it's becoming more and more a bad fit for him and our family. If he was with a very experienced cat person who knows how to respect boundaries and appreciate a very independent and curious nature, and there was no unpredictable shouting in his life, he would thrive and be an amazing companion. Ridley is participating in our Courtesy Adoption Posting Program and is not the property of Toronto Cat Rescue.
