My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet SodaPop — the little tank of love who’s ready to melt hearts and make you laugh every day! This handsome guy is a total sweetheart who adores his humans. He wants nothing more than to be close by your side, though he’s also patient and well-behaved when you’re away at work. SodaPop is kennel-trained, loves his meals (breakfast and dinner are the highlights of his day!), and has excellent manners in the car. He’s quiet, calm, and turns heads at every drive-through — especially when he gets his beloved pup cup! SodaPop currently lives with ten dogs and four cats in his foster home. With slow introductions and supervision, he’s done wonderfully with each one. He enjoys dog friends but would also be perfectly happy as an only pet. He’s still learning that cats aren’t scary — in fact, if one walks toward him, he lets out a dramatic yelp and runs the other way! He’s curious about them but shows zero aggression, just a bit of comedic caution. This chunky lovebug doesn’t always realize his own size, so while he loves everyone he meets (including the foster’s 7-year-old), he might accidentally knock over smaller kiddos in his excitement. He’s a strong chewer who appreciates tough toys and would be thrilled to have a nice meat bone from the butcher shop to keep him busy during your workday. SodaPop is a loyal, affectionate boy who wants to make his forever family proud. He’s learning basic obedience and doing great! He can be a little nervous meeting new dogs at first — tail high, body a bit stiff — but once he feels safe, he’s all about friendship. He’d do best with respectful dog companions who understand when he wants to keep his favorite chew toys to himself. Take a look at this video , and this video and this one of sweet SodaPop. SodaPop’s floppy ears, expressive “judgy” looks, and heart of gold will make you smile every single day. He’s ready to land in his forever home and love his people with everything he’s got.  If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts muscle, mischief, and mushy heart, SodaPop is your guy. SodaPop is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate   to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Click here to watch a video of SodaPop.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 9, 2025, 3:39 pm
