My story

Approximate Age: 5 years Approximate Weight: 26 lbs Meet Dozer! Dozer has come a long way from a difficult past and is showing just how sweet and loving he truly is. With a little time and patience, he blossoms into a gentle, affectionate companion. The good: - Incredibly sweet once he settles in and feels safe - Showing good house manners; will just need time to learn a new routine - Keeps his crate clean - Very food motivated—loves treats like cookies, carrots, and peanut butter - Starting to seek out attention and enjoys gentle affection like head scratches - Loves playing with other dogs Things to know: - Flight risk; will need to be leashed at all times initially, even in a fenced yard, until fully settled - May vocalize when crated with the door closed - Needs another dog in the home; gains confidence and thrives with a canine companion Dozer is a wonderful dog whose good truly outweighs the challenges. He’s looking for a patient, understanding home that will give him the time and security he needs to fully come out of his shell and shine. ** Dozer was treated for Heartworms on 11/19 and 11/20. Requirements And Donations - Required Adoption Day Items: A martingale collar and a non-retractable leash (available for purchase at ODHS). - Adoption Donations: Puppies (under 1 year): $375; Adults: $275; Seniors (age-dependent): $175; Select dogs: $500. We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. - Adoption Radius: Within 350 miles of Fredericksburg, VA. A $50 out-of-state fee applies. - Breed Identification: Dogs are listed as "Mixed Breed" unless formal documentation is available. Location And Hours - Visit our adoption center at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 during adoption hours: Wednesday 5-7 PM; Friday 6-8 PM; Saturday 10 AM-4 PM. - We also host adoption events throughout our community.
