Sammy

My story

Sammy was rescued off the euthanasia list at the shelter. He was found as a stray and was very emaciated and covered in ticks. At the shelter he was terrified and fearful. Since being fostered he has blossomed into a sweet, playful boy. He really wants to be loved and to be by his person. He is mostly potty trained and learning how to use potty bells. He knows sit, and is working in shake and down. Sammy has been friendly to other dogs he has met and loves to play with his doggie housemates. He loves his cat housemates but can be a little too exuberant sometimes and will play too rough or chases them. He does respect the one cat who finally swatted him on the nose. We are working on socialization, he can be fearful and unsure in new situations. Warms up to new people fairly quickly but can be hesitant at first. Has only met older children. Shares toys, good about taking treats with other dogs. Is fed in a separate room to prevent food aggression. Working on walking on a leash with a harness and does very well. Does like to bark at the neighbors and neighbor dogs, we are working on ignoring them. Stays in wire kennel during the day when foster is at work. He does have some anxiety with this and takes calming treats.
