Fergus

My story

Fergus is a 3-year-old Westie mix who’s been through a lot — and he's not afraid to tell you about it. This 21-pound guy has survived a painful perineal hernia, a complicated surgery, and is now starting heartworm treatment, all with plenty of Westie-level sass. Fergus is equal parts snark and sweetness. He wants to be your friend (and often tries), but he’s also recovering from significant trauma and can be touchy, especially around his back end. Medical handling has been tough for him, and he recently bit during a stressful post-op moment — he’s currently on bite quarantine until 9/14. This behavior likely stems from pain and fear, not aggression — but he needs a dog-savvy foster or adopter who can read his signals and give him space. He’s not ready for group play or adoption just yet — recheck is scheduled for 9/14 — but he’s cleared for foster now, and we’d love to get him into a home where he can decompress and recover in peace.
