My story

Meet Princess Poppy - A Darling Adventurer and Snuggly Great Pyr Girl   This beautiful girl with the light tan accents on her soft and fluffy white fur is called Princess Poppy and she is a social butterfly that is the best little puppy.  Sweet is what we describe all of this litter after being born on the front porch of a country home while the family was away.  Their mother, a stray, had no home and was looking for a kind place to have her babies.  The family was away and when they returned there were tiny puppies who were 7 days old and a very tired and exhausted Great Pyrenees momma dog who was emaciated and without food and water after giving birth alone.  Born around July 1st in the heat and humidity of Summer, Critter Cavalry Rescue was called and responded to the urgent plea for help to provide a foster home so this family could be raised.  After nursing and getting all the motherly love and guidance from their Momma Winnie, the puppies were separated into groups of 2 or 3 so they could be worked with individually.  Princess Poppy has a wonderful family that has 2 adults, one adult dog and two loving young children to give them hugs and snuggles and lots of play time.  She loves being a part of such a happy household! This girl is adored by her foster family and a very mild-mannered puppy. She stays busy with toys, but also loves to nap and relax and then get up and play again. At about 20 pounds now, she is expected to grow into a beautiful, fluffy 75–80 pound Pyr girl. She sleeps through the night in a crate and is nearly 100% potty trained. Princess Poppy has the Snuggle part down pat and the relaxation in life all planned out for the future.  She loves people, she will need a fenced backyard to relax in and wander in total safe containment with a great home attached.  This Great Pyrenees breed is so loving and protective of their home and people.  They are not apartment dogs because the time outside to just hang is very needed and requires all the time they want to do that.  She is the total package for a large breed puppy: laidback, happy, smart, and oh-so-soft.  She is ready to go to her forever home the weekend of September 27th. Transport is available from Nashville, Tn where she is fostered and the rescue is based.  She is most suited for a cooler climate in the northeast, where her thick fur coat will be right at home for the lower temperatures..   To adopt Princess Poppy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 15, 2025, 12:17 am
