My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:7Samwise is a young, 42-pound husky mix with a sweet soul and a curious, sensitive nature. He’s reportedly crate trained and lived with older children in a previous home. While still building trust with new people, Samwise is quietly affectionate once he warms up and is starting to show a playful, goofy side. Like some huskies, he’s got something to say; he’s vocal when left out of the action. On a recent outing to Jack London Square, Samwise handled the world with cautious curiosity. He rode calmly in the car, walked well on leash with only mild pulling, and worked on his “sit” command. He shied away from strangers and was startled by sudden movements or loud noises, but he recovered quickly and kept going. He passed other dogs calmly, showed no interest in small animals, and seemed happiest just observing the world at a comfortable pace. At the shelter, he enjoys the company of other dogs and could thrive with a well-matched canine buddy, or be your one-and-only with the occasional playdate.
