My story

Nix is a playful and rambunctious Shih Tzu boy with Peter Pan syndrome. He doesn’t want to grow up and acts very much like a puppy. He’s adorable and friendly with everyone. We don’t think he has had much direction in his young life. He needs some structure and consistency in his life as well as someone willing to put him in his place when and if needed. He is estimated to be 2 years old and came to us as a stray and No one ever claimed him. Nix needs someone home a lot to establish routines with him as well as boundaries. He’s a very smart boy and will be a lovely companion for someone when he finds his perfect home. We do not recommend him in a home with children as he could be too easily confused by the inconsistency of interacting with young children. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Nix is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Nix is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Nix’s adoption fee is $400 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.
