My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Meet Playdoh – A Puppy Whose Spirit Shines!   Playdoh is an 8–9 week old Lab mix with a heart as big as her energy. She came to us after being abandoned at a shelter with no siblings, but she hasn’t let that slow her down— her playful, loving personality shines through every day.   Daily Life & Routine   Playdoh wakes up bright and early (between 5–6 AM) ready to start the day with some playtime while her breakfast is prepared. She eats a small portion of kibble softened with water three times a day (morning, midday, and evening) with a lighter portion before bed. Throughout the day she enjoys 2–3 naps, each lasting 1–2.5 hours, and lots of supervised playtime to burn off her puppy energy. At night, she settles into her crate around 9 PM with soft music or the sound of her humans nearby to keep her calm.   Personality   This little pup is pure joy. When she first arrived, Playdoh was a bit anxious, but she quickly adapted to her routine and blossomed into a playful, sweet-natured girl. She loves hopping around, chewing on her toys, and figuring out puzzles (she recently discovered the fun of a slow feeder and is already working on her problem-solving skills!).   She’s affectionate but not clingy— happy to snuggle after a nap or first thing in the morning, but equally happy to entertain herself with toys when awake. She’s also a fast learner, already practicing “sit,” “wait,” and even tug-of-war.   Social Life   Playdoh has been fostered with a gentle 2-year-old dog and loves the chance to play, though their sessions are limited to keep things from getting too wild. Her play style is enthusiastic, and she’s learning when to take breaks. She hasn’t met kids yet, but her foster thinks she’d do fine with respectful, supervised children. She hasn’t met cats but is still young and adaptable.   Training & Habits   Potty training: Doing well with potty pads in her pen and making progress!   Crate training: Sleeps in her crate at night, takes naps there during the day, and settles in with some guidance.   Chewing & teething: Like most puppies, she’s teething and will try to chew on things, but redirects easily to her toys.   Barking: Rare—usually only during play or when seeking attention.   She’s still too young for outdoor walks, but given her curiosity and energy, she’ll likely love them once she’s old enough.   Ideal Home   Playdoh will thrive in a home where she gets plenty of love, attention, and playtime. She’d be a great match for an active household, especially one that enjoys the outdoors and wants a doggy best friend to join the fun.
