Pajamas is a 10–12 month old, 25 lb Havanese mix with a soft, non-shedding coat— making him a great option for those with allergies or who simply don’t want to deal with shedding fur. He came to DPS from an overcrowded shelter, yet from the very start he’s been outgoing, affectionate, and eager to love, as though he once knew life in a home. This sweet boy wakes up around 7 AM, ready for affection and attention. His day is a mix of hanging out inside with his foster family or lounging outside in the shade, keeping a watchful eye while they do yard work. He enjoys 1–2 walks per day and will happily sit patiently for his leash to be clipped on. Pajamas is generally good on leash, doesn’t pull, and is curious about the world— though he’s still a bit skittish around cars and loud noises. He’s getting braver each day! Though he was a little reserved his first few days, Pajamas quickly settled into his foster home and has revealed his true self: a velcro pup who follows his people everywhere. He’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he’s near his humans. Pajamas adores his foster’s resident dog, playing enthusiastically and even copying her behaviors. He’s generally friendly with new dogs, though sometimes a bit cautious at first. With cats, Pajamas is endlessly fascinated— he tries to play, even if they don’t always return the interest. He’s also been kind and gentle with an 11-year-old child in the home. At home, Pajamas is flexible and easygoing: equally content romping in the grass, playing with toys, or lounging on the couch by your side. He isn’t particularly food-driven and tends to graze on his meals rather than gobble them down. He sleeps in a crate at night, and though he whines a little at first, he settles down quickly. House training is coming along nicely. Pajamas usually lets his foster family know when he needs to go out by whining or yipping. He wears a belly band indoors (often kept dry!) and has even adorably carried the band to his foster when they’ve forgotten to put it on him. He only chews on toys, doesn’t dig, and remarkably, hasn’t been heard barking. He was JUST neutered, so we expect that he'll now get the hang of housetraining 100% in no time! Pajamas’s foster family calls him “the best foster we’ve had”—easygoing, sweet-natured, flexible, and a total people pleaser. He thrives in an active, loving household, ideally with another young dog or even a cat to keep him company. He’s affectionate, loyal, and full of heart, and will make an incredible forever companion. If you’re looking for a playful yet cuddly companion who will shower you with love and follow you to the ends of the earth, Pajamas is your guy.September 10, 2025, 3:04 pm
