My story

Virgil is an 8-month-old Australian Shepherd mix who’s already had a journey no puppy should ever experience. Weighing in at 29 pounds, this handsome boy was found wandering alone in an apartment complex parking lot over Labor Day weekend. Instead of fear or aggression, he greeted strangers with pure eagerness and hope—happily hopping into a car the moment someone opened the door. Sadly, it seems he was deserted, left to fend for himself, which happens far too often. But Virgil’s spirit is unbroken. He is overflowing with life, love, and the kind of resilience only dogs seem to possess.  Virgil is at that “teenage puppy” stage—full of curiosity, energy, and intelligence. He’s the kind of dog who will keep you laughing with his joy, keep you moving with his energy, and keep you company with his loyalty. He adores people and never meets a stranger, making him a natural social butterfly. Whether it’s kids, other dogs, or just friendly neighbors passing by, Virgil is ready to greet them all with a wagging tail and bright eyes. This boy is smart—really smart. He already knows how to ring a bell to let you know he needs outside, rides politely in the car with zero anxiety, and walks beautifully on leash. He’s also a big fan of sniffing and exploring, so a family who enjoys hikes, long walks, or runs would be a great match. As an Aussie mix, he thrives with both physical activity and mental stimulation. He’ll shine in a home that gives him consistent training, positive direction, and plenty of ways to channel that working-dog brain.  Virgil would make an amazing second (or even third!) dog in a household, since he loves canine companionship and would benefit from having a buddy. He’s gentle and playful enough to be a wonderful children’s companion too. And then there’s his looks—soft, shiny coat, bright expressive eyes, and a smile that turns heads. When you’re out and about, people will stop to meet him, drawn in by his happy personality. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t just join your life—he transforms it. Virgil isn’t looking for just a home. He’s looking for his people—a family who will never let him down, never let him wander lost again, and who will love him as deeply as he loves them. If you’ve been searching for a best friend who is equal parts loyal, smart, and affectionate, Virgil is waiting for you. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue and tell us where you live in an email to ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  He is currently in Nashville, Tn in foster care and we adopt locally as well as to the northeastern states outside of Tennessee.  We can transport Virgil to lots of stops close by.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 7, 2025, 9:41 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt PUPPY VIRGIL, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
