My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog E:1This dog is available to meet by appointment only. If you have ever known the deep rewards of seeing a shy, scared dog blossom into a confident lovebug, then Tamarind may be the pup for you! She was very frightened when she first came to the shelter, but has started to engage more with volunteers. Her true exuberant personality shines through when she gets the chance to run and play in the big yard—her zoomies are expert level! She has done well with other small dogs at the shelter, romping around with the more energetic pups while being gentle and respectful of the calmer dogs. She would likely do best in a home with a doggie friend to show her the ropes and help her build confidence. Tamarind is looking for an experienced, patient adopter in a calm adult-only household. Because she can get spooked, it will be important that she has on a well-fitted harness whenever she leaves her new home. Her ideal home will have a fully fenced yard where she can go potty and play while she decompresses and learns to feel safe.
