My story

We have a transport where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving on 9/19/25 to NorCal and OR. Surrounding states will be added as they are secured ☺️ We would love to add Dixie to our trip for the right home! Meet Dixie! She is a beautiful Papillon Poodle mix, also known as a Papipoo. She has a hypoallergenic coat so you won't have to worry about shedding with her. She is tiny, leggy.... but petite. She weighs 5 1/2 lbs. Yes, she is full grown. She is 1 year of age, so her size is her true size 😊 She is spayed, current on all of her vaccines, had dental cleaning, has been microchipped, and had a thourel exam with our vet who cleared her to find a home all her own ❤️ She is house trained, and has no problem going outside to use the restroom when asked to. She is very independently natured but due to her small size we always accompany her outdoors due to the wildlife we have here. She doesn't mind having us close by and while she isn't always ready to come back inside she happily complies if we ask her too. I would reccomend a good schedule in her next home as it's something she has become quite accustomed to since with us 😊 She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in her crate at night the whole night very peacefully. She is let's extra happy to see us in the morning to start her day! If you wanted her in a bed of her own or in bed with you I'm sure she would do just fine with that set up, but I reccomend to be sure before making that change because she will most definitely not want to go back to sleeping in her crate once she knows the comfort of being with her person at night ☺️ She is leash trained, and loves her walks. She is a social butterfly, and loves just being out and about enjoying all that life has to show her. She is a happy go lucky little girl that just enjoys her time outside as much as she enjoys her time inside (okay, maybe a little more 🙃,) but being a nature girl is just her thing 🌼 She is wonderful with other dogs and cats like. She is very friendly and playful. She respects boundaries with other animal friends as well so if you have one that's a bit older just looking for companionship she will happily join them in life, but if you have one ready for a friend to venture off into their days with enjoying every moment to their fullest she will equally be their girl! Don't have any other animals? That's fine too!! She is truly happy just being a part of your world, as long as you are present and able to give her little heart the attention it craves at times. She loves road trips and loves being in a booster seat of her own to be able to have a good view of all the scenery passing her by. We have put her in a soft sides travel carrier, but she wasn't happy with that, so we upgrade her to a window view and she has taken advantage of every single ride since. She truly is an adventurous little spirit at heart ❤️ She is great with our groomers, and loves her spa days. She loves being dolled up so she can come home to being told how absolutely adorable she is. And yes, she expects treats 😂 We have a few special treats tucked away for her so she knows that we won't ever forget about her "indulgent side." She is a little foodie, and never misses an opportunity to convince you snack time is a good time ❤️ She is not a barker; but will alert you of unfamiliar noises. She is very good at letting you know that what she hears is safe or not. She listens well, and knows when you are able to take over but will follow close by in case you need back up 😂 She is very well behaved. She knows basic commands like sit, come, stay, dance, and wait. She is not high energy at all, so don't let her age convince you otherwise. Yes, she has a zest for life but it just keeps life interesting that's all 😊 Her prior owners couldn't keep her sadly due to their inability to find a rental that accepted pets in their price range. They had to move for work, and their timing was up so sadly their next place couldn't include their sweet girl so they reached out to us to take her in and find her a great home 💕 Adoption Fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/dixieDixie Her fee covers her spay, vaccines, microchip/registration, dental cleaning, and her full vet exam, along with the months of care, grooming, and training we have personally provided while she has been with us.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dixie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
