My story

Lucy is an adorable 1 and a half year old, 8 lb Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix with a big personality in a tiny package. Lucy's breed is known for sure, as her previous home did a DNA test! She is a Chihuahua / Pomeranian / Pekingese mix. She’s lively, spirited, and full of charm. She's the kind of pup who brings joy everywhere she goes. We first rescued Lucy in February of this year, and she quickly captured hearts with her sweet nature and gentle spirit. Sadly, through no fault of her own, Lucy is once again looking for her forever family. After seven months in her adoptive home, her owner faced unexpected personal hardships and could no longer provide the care Lucy deserves. Lucy herself is an absolute gem! She is loving, so friendly, and eager to please. She has already proven to be a wonderful companion and is ready to bring joy, comfort, and fun to the right family. All she needs now is a stable, caring home where she can finally put down roots and be cherished for a lifetime. From Lucy's foster: * * * * "Lucy is a good dog. She is very cute and sweet. I work from home and she lets me know when she needs to go outside. I walk her in the morning and again at 7:30 pm. They are just short walks so she can go potty. She goes out in the yard to potty again right before bed. She was sometimes having an accident during the night, so we have started crate training her. She is pretty calm. She does play, but she is not overly rowdy. She likes to play tug-o-war. She will play by herself too. She will take her toys out of the toy box and into my bedroom. She's great with other dogs. She did very well meeting my neighbor's big lab. They sniffed each other and she was not scared of him at all. She gets along great with my 2 small dogs. She is sometimes shy with strangers at first, but warms up super fast. She's all around very happy. Lucy likes to sunbathe, watch squirrels, & chase grasshoppers. She has been good when I have taken her in public. She has not been scared, she does not bark in public. She does like to sniff a lot. She does like scratches and belly rubs. She smiles. She gives lots of kisses. She will sit in your lap and cuddle, but only if you are scratching her and only for a short time. When she is done she will just leave. She is not the typical stuck to your lap chihuahua. She likes her space. She will often go lay down in a different room. " * * * * Lucy is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready to bring smiles and laughter into her forever home. To help Lucy thrive in her new environment, we require her adopter to enroll in a positive-reinforcement training class (virtual or in-person). She’s already had some training in her previous home, but ongoing training is such an important step in building a strong relationship, reinforcing good habits, and boosting confidence. Training isn’t just about learning skills—it’s about creating trust and communication that lasts a lifetime. Farfel’s is happy to provide a list of approved trainers. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application, as the application on Petfinder and Adoptapet do not make it back to us with all of the information we need.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
