** If you are interested in adopting Chloe, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Chloe! Chloe is a sweet 9-ish year old Dachshund / Beagle mix weighing just 21 lbs. We do think Chloe is likely a bit younger than 9, based on her personality. She’s happy, full of life, loves to play, and jumps with excitement at meal time! The Houston vets estimated her age at around 9 years old, but it’s important to remember that veterinary age estimates are not always exact. Dogs who haven’t been well cared for can sometimes appear older than they really are... and Chloe’s clear neglect may have influenced that initial estimate. Her spirit and energy suggest she may in fact be younger than her paperwork says. Life hasn’t always been kind to this gentle girl, but her resilient spirit still shines through. Chloe was found as a stray in Houston, TX, missing almost all of her hair due to dermatitis from the hot Texas streets. Chloe ended up in an overcrowded, high-kill shelter. When she landed on the euthanasia list through no fault of her own, time was running out—she had only an hour left to find rescue. The shelter simply didn’t have space and routinely euthanizes dogs after just four days. Luckily, Farfel’s Rescue stepped in, and Chloe’s life was saved. She’s now safe in a loving foster home and has her ticket to Colorado to find the forever family she deserves. Chloe’s dermatitis has been fully treated, and now all she needs is a little TLC and time for her coat to grow back in healthy and shiny. Her adopters will be sent home with a salmon oil supplement to support her skin and coat health. Her hair is already filling in beautifully, and she looks so much better than when she was first rescued in early August. From Chloe's foster: * * * * "Chloe is PERFECT!!! She is so friendly and nice and LOVES people!!! Whoever adopts her will be so lucky. It really makes me sad to think what caused her to be a stray, because it's clear she used to live in a home. She was so scared when I met her at the shelter, but opened up immediately when we got in the car! She hasn't had a single potty accident inside and sleeps well in a crate overnight. She also will go into her crate if you just say "crate" and point (even if there is a cat in the crate haha). She is dog and cat friendly and I could see her being great with kids, although have not tested this. She's very happy and social and sweet. She is super mobile and has had no problems jumping in a truck or on the couch. We haven't quite figured out stairs, but I think it's just that she doesn’t understand upstairs is a place. She is super smart and knows that she is only allowed on the part of the couch that has a blanket down for her (since she is still a bit flakey) and knows not to lay on the other part of the couch. She is such a good girl! She loves sitting in chairs, but has learned that we don't sit in dining chairs, only outdoor chairs or living room chairs. She loves my husband (he is tall and has a dark beard so a lot of dogs are scared of him). She is very food motivated and leaps up to belly button height when you tell her it's dinner time! So seriously, she is perfect! Even at her clinic appointment, she was perfect for the tech and let us clip her nails. Her skin is looking better by the day and I just know she is going to make someone very happy. (She looks so sad in photos, but she actually has quite the happy persona!) She is super good for getting her medicated baths, and she took her pills no problem, I just threw them in with her food! Her skin is already looking SO much better than when she came home with me. She is on the mend and such a happy girl!" * * * * Chloe is ready for her fresh start and would love a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and cherished. In return, she’ll give you the sweetest companionship and a loyal little shadow by your side. What Chloe needs most is a loving home where she can feel safe and cared for. She would thrive with someone who understands that seniors may need a little extra TLC and time to adjust, but the love you’ll receive in return is immeasurable. Chloe is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and ready to start the next chapter of her life. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chloe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
