My story

Poppy is a sweet as can be Maltese / Poodle mix (Maltipoo) who, in her middle-aged years was turned into a Texas shelter by an owner who neglected her. Upon her arrival at the shelter, Poppy was immediately spayed, vaccinated and vetted. Bloodwork was also completed and this sweet baby was found to be perfectly healthy and ready for her transport to a brand new life in Colorado. Luck was on sweet Poppy's side on the day of her arrival at the shelter. Our compassionate New Mexico rescuer was in the shelter lobby and had the pleasure of meeting Poppy as she arrived. The decision took seconds after the rescuer held Poppy close. This sweet girl snuggled into her with so much love and trust that our rescuer knew she was a perfect candidate to join Farfel's. We were contacted hours later and happily accepted Poppy into Farfel's Rescue. At 20 lbs, Poppy is a perfect size for daytime fun, long walks and late night cuddling. At approximately 7ish years old, our wonderful girl has many healthy years left to be a full-time best friend. Poppy will be a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very sweet bestie. She will be by your side to hug and love on. This sweetie-pie is a kind and loving spirit to hold close when the challenges of the world seem overwhelming. After spending some with Poppy, her New Mexico rescuer said it was obvious that this beautiful girl had been loved dearly at some point in her life. "She'a just so darn sweet, well-behaved and loving. She's truly an irresistible girl who has so much love in her heart to share," our rescuer bragged about our Poppy. Poppy may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog, but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Poppy with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at a home-based office. A mellow canine friend would be great for Poppy as well, but not mandatory if her people are attentive and enjoy spending lots of time with their new fuzzy family member. For those family members who enjoy neighborhood walks and time in the outdoors, Poppy would love nothing more than to share the experience. Poppy will love her walks (and is working on her leash skills and doing better all the time) to socialize with neighbors and enjoy the paths near her home. And then, maybe Poppy's favorite part, is when it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot beside her beloved family members. Poppy has been vetted, vaccinated and spayed to be line with Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs that are fully vetted and fixed. They therefore won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis in the canine population. Poppy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 9//6/2025. Adoption applications are currently being accepted for this extremely sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Poppy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Poppy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
