Chance aka Slim n Texarkana TX

My story

Chance is a male red dapple Dachshund. He is 3 years old and he weighs about 14 pounds. Chance’s full medical history is available. He is neutered, regularly and fully vaccinated including rabies, and always on preventives. Chance is ready for adoption. Chance was adopted in fall 2022 by his mom who was a previous boy pup adopter and also later adopted another boy from this rescue. Unfortunately the three boys lost their mom this summer. We’ve known Chance, originally named Slim (Slim Chance) from the time of his original rescue at 3-4 months old, so basically his whole life. Chance is a gentle soul with a soft heart and very soft hair. He is a cuddler extraordinaire and loves to be under a blanket during couch or bed time. Chance is comfortable and well behaved in the kennel but he won’t go in it himself you have to place him there. He’s going for maximum guilt with that move. Chance pulls a little on the leash and rides best in the car in a pet taxi. He meets people and dogs nicely and would really need another playful sweet canine in the home. He could probably be taught to live with a cat but he is initially very curious about them so it would take some time. Chance is fine with kids but also likes time without them. Chance’s annoying habit is sucking on blankets including the edge of the comforter in the big bed. It is a soothing behavior and manifests more when things are not going according to routine. Otherwise he is a lover, will play with friendly dogs and potty trained. We are looking for the perfect home for Chance where we can continue to keep up with him and his life. (The family adopted Chance’s younger brother. His older brother Charlie is also adoptable. Please see his separate listing. They are not truly bonded but they get along. They can be adopted together for $500.) Adoption fee is $350 for Chance. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet. We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
