My story

Hi!  My name is Darla and I am looking for a forever home.   I was found abandoned on the side of the road barely alive after having given birth to several puppies; unfortunately, most of my puppies didn't make it.  BCAA heard about my plight and thankfully stepped in right away and placed me and remaining puppies in a loving foster home.  My foster mom says that now that I've weaned my puppies and BCAA has taken care of getting me back to being all healthy, it's now my turn to find my own home and that I've come so far from the scared, almost shut down girl when I first came into foster.  While when I first meet you I have to learn I can trust you not to hurt me, it doesn't take me long to figure that out ... treats help as I adore them and my meal times.  My foster home has an 8 year boy that I've done good around.  I have gotten along with all of the other dogs I've met in my foster home, both big and small, and don't bother those things called cats they have.  While I don't like a crate, I am good in one without any accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding; I would prefer to snuggle down in my own dog bed, either by myself or with my other 4-legged friends as I don't mind sharing.  Another thing I really like is going on walks and have been doing pretty good on leash but my foster dad says to make sure you have a good handle on the leash as if something startles me, I will try to get away from it.  This also means I either need a physically fenced yard or a commitment to always use a leash outside a fenced area so I can take care of my business and stay safe.  The vet feels I'm about 2 years old and currently weigh around 47lbs.  If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org. Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Darla, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
