My story

Meet Chutney – Your Future Gentle-Hearted Sidekick Currently in Vancouver, Canada • Age: 5 year • Breed: Jindo Mix • Energy Level: Low–Medium • Personality: Gentle, shy, affectionate with trust • Dog-Friendly (needs canine companions)   About Chutney   Chutney is a soft soul with a quiet charm, looking for a patient and understanding forever home. This 5-year-old Jindo mix has a heart full of love — he’s just learning how to share it with the world.   He’s still building confidence with people and will need an adopter who understands that progress takes time, but is incredibly rewarding. Chutney thrives when allowed to move at his own pace, celebrating small victories without pressure. With those he trusts, he reveals his sweet, silly, and affectionate side — especially during playtime or when he feels safe enough to ask for pets.   With Other Dogs   Chutney must have another calm, well-mannered dog (or dogs) in the home. He deeply relies on canine companionship to feel safe and confident. Other dogs not only comfort him, but also help him learn how to navigate the world. A home without dogs will not be the right fit for him.   Quirks & Loves • Loves stuffed animals (and shredding them with glee!) • Enjoys chewing bones and lounging peacefully • Food-motivated learner — especially loves eggs and chicken • Lights up during training sessions and mealtimes   Training & Habits • Crate trained • Potty trained on pee pads (still relearning outdoor potty) • Not destructive • Extremely quiet (rarely barks) • Calm when alone (no separation anxiety)   Ideal Home   Chutney is still working through some fears — particularly with harnesses, leashes, and sudden noises. For this reason, a securely fenced yard is ideal so he can safely enjoy outdoor time while slowly gaining confidence with leash walks through positive reinforcement.   He would thrive in a calm, structured home with adults only or older teens. Young children may be overwhelming for his sensitive nature. Cats are currently unknown.   Chutney doesn’t need perfection — he needs patience, consistency, and love. With the right adopter, this shy but incredibly sweet boy will blossom into a loyal, loving companion. Ready to be part of Chutney’s journey? Apply to foster or adopt today and help this special pup find the love and stability he deserves. Please also check out his post/more videos of him on our Facebook or Instagram! ##2507597##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chutney, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
