My story

Hi there! My name is Channell, and I’m an 8-month-old pup weighing about 47 pounds. I’m tall and slim, with a gentle heart and a love for life—once I feel safe. Life hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve learned to be cautious, especially around men. But once I learn I can trust you, I’ll give you my whole heart. It just might take me a little longer to warm up to men, so patience and kindness go a long way with me. I’m up-to-date on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative, and recently spayed. I’m an athletic girl who loves to run sprints in the backyard, so I’d do best in a home where I have space to stretch my legs. I also love going on walks—twice a day if possible! At first, I was nervous about all the sounds in the neighborhood, but I’ve become much more confident. The world is a fascinating place, and I’m eager to explore it. I’m learning how to walk on a leash and making great progress—though I do sometimes forget that my foster mama is on the other end when I spot a cheeky squirrel. But don’t worry, I always make it up to her with kisses and snuggles. Here are a few more of my best qualities: I’m house-trained and sleep through the night. I don’t counter surf and I’m great in the car. I enjoy playing with toys and can keep myself entertained. I’m crate-trained (though I’m not the biggest fan of it), and I try my best to humor my humans. I’m a people-pleaser and very cooperative, even at the vet or when I need a bath or medicine. My foster mama says I’m submissive, and I respond well to gentle guidance. I already know commands like “Drop it,” “Off,” and “Come here,” and I love being praised and rewarded. I haven’t been around cats or kids, so I’m not sure how I’d do with them. With other dogs, I can be a bit alert at first, but I’m curious and eager to play. I think I’d enjoy having a kind, well-mannered dog friend to help show me the ropes. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little time and patience to blossom, I might be your girl. I can’t wait to meet my forever family and keep adding to my list of amazing qualities as we grow together. Let’s become best friends forever.
