My story

Odd Side A17755936 lb. neutered male, approx 2 years old -This boy looks like life has been unkind to him so far and we would love to change that for him! Old, healing wounds and missing fur….Dirty and a little skinny.-He can be timid and it takes time for him to get comfortable and feel safe-He walks nicely on leash but doorways and the unknown make him pause. -He needs patience and encouragement.-Once I began petting him he moved closer to me. I got a few tail wags even though it was tucked. He wanted to be close for pets the whole time.-After much time he finally felt comfortable enough to get in my lap and relax. Then came a few gentle kisses-He is treat motivated and takes them nicely. Still working on “sit”.-Curious of toys but they seem unfamiliar. My squeaker made him cower and run away.-He will need someone willing to be patient with him until he’s comfortable-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids•Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt •Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. •Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. •There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. •To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** •The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
