My story

Meet handsome DEWEY, a young doodle sure to steal your heart! DEWEY and HUEY are likely brothers who were dumped or abandoned in a sparsely populated rural area. They tried to take refuge from the Oklahoma heat by digging under a trailer house which was not well received by the property owners. A Lab For Life was contacted and we made immediate plans to get these boys to safety. Looking at DEWEY now, it's hard to image the pitiful shape his coat was in...matted into dreadlocks all the way to the skin with painful sticker burs embedded in his ears, face and legs. Our foster spent hours the first night trimming and clipping. The hair around his eyes was so long and tangled that his eyes were painfully matted shut; it's a miracle that he could even see to get around. DEWEY was so very very patient with our foster as she did the initial home groom. We know going forward he will be such a good boy when he goes in for future touch ups as his coat will require regular maintenance. In his short time in foster, DEWEY is making great progress on leash (with the occasional excited pull); has learned about sleeping in a kennel and being an overall good boy! To see him bounding through the yard, with his tail and ears flying is a beautiful sight. If you've been considering a doodle, DEWEY may be just the one for you!
