Formerly an outdoor, semi-feral cat, Stevie has a lovely personality and adapts well to change. Thanks to the shelter, her two kittens, Spork and Tongs, have already been adopted, and Stevie is now spayed! While she looks longingly out the windows, she also enjoys her naps in a safe place indoors, and playing with feathers on wands, a tower rolling ball toy, catnip mice, and spending quite a bit of time on the top perch of a cat tree and looking at birds out the window. She loves canned food (but not tuna) and Churos, but willingly eats dry food, too, and I think she appreciates the easy food access. She can’t get enough chicken! Stevie does great with a litter box, despite not having access to one the first months of her life! She can be a bit of an escape artist, so please be careful around exterior doors. She does not yet understand the concept of sitting on a lap, but she’s getting more used to being an indoor cat and I think that will come. She just recently started getting on my bed and curling up next to me for a few seconds. As she adjusts to living indoors with a human, she seems to be developing more of the behaviors you might expect from an indoor cat. And, she has always loved being slowly petted on her back, whether indoors or out. She is not a huge fan of being picked up but tolerates it for a bit. My hope for her is to be adopted by a nice single person or couple or roommates who have time to play with her. I have not seen her around children but if the kids are old enough to not grab at her and to respect her preferences, I think she might enjoy the energy of being around children. She is young herself, despite having had kittens. Her claws are sharp, though I will try to clip them soon, so that might also be a concern around children. She has beautiful eyes and lovely fur, and is very sweet, despite not being a cuddler (yet). She is also one of the least vocal cats I’ve ever met, probably from having to be stealthy when she lived outside, but that could change as she gets more used to being with people. Give Stevie Nicks a chance, and who knows, she may even sing “Rhiannon” for you 😻
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Stevie Nicks, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
