My story

Are you a social, energetic, outdoorsy, fun-loving human seeking an equally active, social, hiking, camping, running, biking adventure buddy? If so, our charming, outgoing, lively & vibrant resident goofball and dog in a baboon suit, Walter, is anxious to submit his resume to be your new best friend. Walter is a 7 month old, 35 pound, male Standard Poodle puppy with boundless enthusiasm, curiosity, and excitement for the world around him. A social butterfly with both humans and other dogs, he thrives in the company of others and would make a great playmate and companion for an existing dog with a similar energy level. Like most poodles, he's an intelligent fella and seeks guardians who can commit to ensuring that he not only gets plenty of daily physical exercise, but also plenty of mental stimulation to prevent boredom. He's an older puppy, but still a puppy, and still exhibits many puppy antics and behaviors, like jumping up in greeting, occasional mouthiness when very excited, counter-surfing, and getting into a bit of mischief when bored or not supervised for extended periods. While he's very intelligent and attentive, he also feels like goofing off is way more fun than learning boring things like manners and basic obedience so any potential guardians also need to be prepared to continue his training and provide the structure and guidance all young, energetic working Breeds need to develop into good canine citizens as adults. Walter is crate trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. He's being fostered with several other dogs and gets along famously with all of his canine fosters siblings. He can also be a bit of a "Chatting Cathy" and some days has quite a lot to say. Because of this, we feel he's not an appropriate dog for a condo or apartment environment where his talkative nature could disrupt close neighbors. This breed also needs frequent grooming and trips to the salon every several weeks to keep their coats healthy and comfortable. Potential guardians must also be prepared for frequent trips to the groomer. Walter is up-to-date with vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee to the rescue is $500. He is currently in a foster home in Chicago and meetings can be arranged by appointment only after an an adoption application has been submitted to the rescue and approved for adoption. Walter is looking forward to his next adventure with his new humans, come and meet him today! • For more info or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit our website at palsplacerescue.org. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply to adopt unless you are ready to welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE FROM THE RESCUE MAY END UP IN YOUR SPAM OR JUNK FOLDER. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. • Walter's adoption fee is $500. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like this Walter from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam or junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there. We are a volunteer-run organization, and we strive to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. However, please be patient, as it can sometimes take longer for a reply.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Walter, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
