My story

Meet Lady Lily!  This 13-year-old Corgi (30 lbs) carries herself with all the grace and poise of royalty. She spent her entire life in a loving home before her owner could no longer care for her, so moving into rescue has been quite the adjustment. Lily is house-trained, doesn’t need a crate (though she’s comfortable in one), and spends much of her day napping or lounging like a true duchess. She’s not much for toys, but she absolutely delights in rolling in the grass and taking short walks—her little legs carry her along with a surprisingly peppy gait! This introverted girl is shy when meeting new people and will do best in a quieter home, ideally without young children. Once she feels safe, she loves gentle attention—head pets, snuggles under your arm, and even the occasional belly rub. She can coexist peacefully with other dogs, though she prefers her own space and should be fed separately since food can bring out her sassy side. Like any noble lady, Lily appreciates the finer things (wet food, please!) and a patient, understanding human who will give her time to blossom. She’s shown some sensitivity around her harness, feet, and ears, but with compassion and consistency, she’ll learn to trust. Lily is a wonderful companion for someone who values quiet moments, leisurely strolls, and the unique joy of seeing a reserved soul open her heart. She’s waiting for that special person who will honor her royal ways while giving her the love and security she deserves. Her minimum adoption fee is $250 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
